Jung, "Proceed from the Dream Outward", Christine brings her love of nature, spirit, and myth to the iconographic style of her fine art, illustration, commercial art and teaching to children and adults. Journey though these pages of illuminated, gold gilded paintings of animals, nature and spirit that’s been exhibited on both coasts in galleries and museums. Her paintings can be found in both private and public collections.
Most of Christine Lamb’s thematic artwork often focuses on both traditional and contemporary iconographic interpretations of spirit, animals, nature. These attitudes are carried though her commercial art and illustration projects including Christine’s award winning children’s book illustrations of A Tale of Two Rice Birds. This book received several national reviews and recognition continuing her unique, vivid gold gilded images in the re-telling of a popular Thai folktale. Her design of toys, toy identity packaging lines, gift, garden and souvenir designs have been created for many high profile national clients.
Christine’s artwork and studies in traditional Iconography has lent itself to the foundation of her Devotional Art Icon Workshops. These workshops on Devotional Art further expand her talents as an inspirational teacher to both children and adults. Christine loves people and easily works with all ages and cultural backgrounds. Along with teaching Devotional Art Icon Workshops, she has developed a line of Devotional Art Cards sold in Washington and California. Christine Lamb attended Holy Names Academy and is a graduate of the University of Washington Art School. Her post-graduate studies with Master Russian Iconographers, Master Haiga and Japanese Calligraphers, Sumi-e painters, and gold gilding craftsmen keep Christine an active learner in her artistic field. Christine was mentored by Jacob Lawrence throughout her education at the U of W and her personal and professional relationship with Jacob and Gwen Knight Lawrence continued as a warm friendship through the years. She exhibited with Jacob Lawrence at Francine Seders Gallery in 1985. A cherished memory she shared with with both Jacob and Gwen.
Animals, wildlife and nature moves Christine to paint. The timeless beauty of Byzantine Icons, the works of William Blake, Edmund Dulac, Jacob Lawrence, Mike Spafford, Henri Rousseau, Gustav Klimt, The Pre-Raphaelites, Georgia O’Keefe and Giotto have been inspirational influences in her art career. Egyptian, Persian, Asian art, the beauty of medieval illuminated manuscripts and Renaissance art still moves her heart.
Christine currently lives and works in a beloved old farm house in the verdant Pacific Northwest along with her horses, cats, birds and numerious animal and wildlife neighbors.
